The Centre

The Naivasha Women’s Health Care Centre (NWHCC) in Kenya was designed with the assistance of medical professionals in the USA and local architects.Under the guidance of the Friends of Naivasha Self Help Group, and ran using the same tariffs as the current Naivasha District Hospital, the facility will be an inexpensive and effective way of catering to the needs of the women who do not have access to private medical care.

The new Centre will be built on approximately 10,000 square meters of landscaped gardens. The focus of the new facility will be to allow women to undergo labour, deliver their babies, and recover from the birthing experience in a semi-private suite designed to care for their obstetrical needs in one room. This assures safety by less cross-contamination and allows for privacy and family support for the mother.

The hospital will have a bed capacity of 80 beds. A high-risk nursery will accommodate 15 pre-term or sick babies with modern infant warmers and other necessary equipment. Three operating theatres will assure access for emergency C-section as well as other procedures and surgery.
